Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi believed to be killed

following U.S. Special Operations raid in Idlib, Syria, close to Turkish border.

Both Iraqi and Kurdish-YPG intelligence are taking credit for information leading to his death.

Trump: "He died whimpering, crying and moaning" in absolute fear.

"The thug who tried to intimidate others spent his last moments in terrible fear"

We obliterated his caliphate and we will continue to pursue the remaining ISIS terrorists to their brutal end.

Trump trash talk.
"I want to thank the nations of Russia, Turkey, the Kurds and Iraq"

A brutal killer - one who has caused so much violence and death - died like a dog. He died like a coward. The world is now a safer place. God bless America
We knew the compound had tunnels. We landed with eight helicopters and blew holes in the side of the building to avoid booby traps. I got to watch it in the situation room. It was as if you were watching a movie. So clear.
Russia treated us great. We had to fly over Russia held areas. Iraq was excellent.

ISIS fighters are hated as much by Russians as they are hated by us, which is why I think that they can do much of the rest.
Trump's argument for withdrawal from Syria and handover to Russia - made during his presser on killing of Baghdadi.
There are massive amounts of oil. We are securing it. After all ISIS got great wealth from that oil. Or we will trade it. We are in the Middle East now for 8 trillion dollars. Turkey is taking tremendous deaths from that part of the world - from that "safe" zone.
I will tell you who loves us being there - Russia and China - because we are depleting our military while they are building theirs. The Europeans were very disappointing. We said take your ISIS fighters. But they wouldn't take them.
Where Lindsey and I totally agree is on the oil. We should be able to take some also. I intend to make a deal with one of our companies - exon mobile - to take it out. We are securing the oil. That doesn't mean that we don't make a deal at some point.
They did an on site test. They brought body parts back with them - substantial pieces. (evidently the head was brought back, which wasn't destroyed by the vest explosion.)
We know the successors and we have our sights on them.
Many of the people died on the site. But we have taken some alive. The children were left - more dead than alive.

Only American forces but we were given great cooperation. The Russians were very curious but very cooperative.
I have dealt with some people who aren't very intelligent - but these intelligence people really deserve the name - intelligence.
I don't want to guard Turkey and Syria for the rest of my life. I just don't want to do it. It is very expensive and dangerous. I will secure the oil. They had no weapons of mass destruction. That would have been a reason to go in. In Iraq, they discriminate against US oil co's.
These are all Trump quotes from his live press conference about the killing of Baghdadi.
