All the memes and jokes aside, @washingtonpost didn’t have an embarrassing typo moment. Nor was it just the headline. They published an obit of a dreaded terrorist which read like a fan mail. The Point here is this- No one in WaPo raised a red flag till the outrage started
Anyone who is in news business will know that articles don’t get published unless they go through multiple editorial checks. So it wasn’t just the person who wrote the obit, it was multiple check points it went through at WaPo who approved. Keep this in mind and never forget.
It is this @washingtonpost that writes obits like this for the world’s most dreaded terrorist, that questions India on Kashmir’s communication ban which has since been lifted. They question when India says Right to Life is bigger than Right to Internet and social media.
Of course WaPo believes Right to Internet is greater than Right to life. They also believe Baghdadi, head of ISIS is an austere Islamic scholar. They also believe he was ‘fascinated by Islamic history and intricacies of Islamic law’.
India will do fine, Kashmir will do fine. They always have. It is the United States they should be worried. If this is what their media is dishing out, then they should be very very worried.
Post 1945, the US championed the liberal order in the world.Their media became the vehicles of this liberal order. Liberalism had a good run till it came across Islamists. Islamists coopted Liberals and that is why today WaPo calls Baghdadi ‘austere Islamic scholar’
