Government sources confirming tthat Operation Yellowhammer No Deal planning has been stood down...

So “Get Ready” ad campaign paused, and response centres stood down. Can’t get confirmation on Operation Brock, which was only fully activated this morning.
Formal decision to stand down Operation Brock will occur tomorrow, from what I understand, so will still be in place tomorrow...

specific technical issue around electric cars and Brexit that I reported a year ago.

The value of the electric battery powertrain is a large proportion of value of finished car, much more than petrol engine would be.

Therefore, v difficult to risk it not counting as EU content

No one really know how physics of all this will pan out..

Last time after local elections 2017 there was almost a stock market style response to the “uniting of the right” of Con + UKIP vote.

problem with strategy was that it did not anticipate reaping equal & opposite response
In late May/early June 2017 it was pretty extraordinary to see this occurring in real time, on ground. It was there for everyone to see.

& yet last time there was no Con+UKIP arrangement or discussions. May just absorbed the UKIP vote. This time PM welcomes BXP standing aside

Just interviewed Chancellor - who argue the 0.3% number was “strong” and “solid” in international context. And slower performance down to uncertainty about Brexit not happening, and a Corbyn Government “sending us right back into recession”... - as you’d expect during GE campaign
Also - I put to him Bank of England assessment of Johnson Brexit deal - that it would lead to checks on customs “as a result trade flows are likely to fall and some companies might exit the market”

** Javid acknowledges “when we trade with the EU there will be some changes”
Full quote: “we will have our own custom territory & yes, as the UK when we trade with EU there will be some changes but it also means there's opportunities..to strike our own free trade agreements around the world, investments in freeports. there's a lot to look forward to”.

NEW: I’ve been told by civil service source that Operation Yellowhammer (no deal planning) has been stood down. Government has confirmed.
The government has spent at least roughly £2billion (or £30 per person) on no deal preparations up to now.
Still perhaps no surprise it’s happening now. Just at time they want to convince Labour no deal isn’t going to happen, govt shuts down no deal prep. And it makes sense. After all, they have a deal.

There were 3 big revelations yesterday in UK politics (11/9/19).

With so much going on it’s easy to get distracted by just 1, but I argue these 3 must be considered together and what they add up to (THREAD).

This goes right to the heart of #Brexit and what is really going on.
The following revelations came to light on 11/9/19:
1) Operation #Yellowhammer document was published
2) Currency speculation with the Pound being shorted post 31st Oct, betting on Brexit happening on schedule and Sterling crashing.
3) Three judges ruled #Prorogation unlawful.

See excellent commentary from @lewis_goodall. Clearly #brexit by the governments own analysis would be deeply damaging in many ways. And there is wide suspicion this isn’t the worst case scenario.

He is the best candidate to deliver a no deal Brexit. He prepared for it as his brief, he was going to be appointed as cabinet minister responsible for no deal planning (until May backed down under Remain pressure). 1/

NEW: I Understand govt depts have "stood down" their no deal planning, as of today.

Permanent Secretary of frontline Brexit dept sends staff email which says: ""In common with the rest of government, we have stood down our No Deal operational planning with immediate effect."
"This morning, at a meeting chaired by the Cabinet Secretary, we agreed that the objective is to ensure we wind down our No Deal planning in a careful, considered and orderly way. That will take a few weeks."
Just a reminder, the government has spent £4 billion on no deal planning, now operationally suspended.
