Getting ready to announce my ticket giveaway for @EcomexSummit which will now be a virtual summit and allow more people to benefit...
The first company that I ever founded was called... Random Media LLC.

It was founded with my brother Robert to build and run the online platform Realvibes.net (renamed Realvibez TV).

The winner of the free ticket, picked randomly out of a hat is...

@facey_pg 🙌🏽
Thank you for all who entered via DM. It was fun to the research done.
Fun fact: The company name resulted from the pitch my brother and I made to our dad.

When we explained the eventual 6 business units we would scale to in 5 years, he asked “Why so random?”

We also showed him how it wasn’t random. It was based on Viacom.
The original vision for @realvibez was set in 2002 as an online Caribbean platform with the following mission:
We believed that Caribbean entertainment culture could be leveraged in 6 industries:

- Live events
- Television
- Record Label
- Magazine
- Clothing
- Videogames

This we set out to form strategic partnerships for each one and consider starting our own if needed.
Our father thought that was random until we showed him how MTV had partnerships in all of the 6 and how they could reinforce each other.

The hub was to be the website which would serve to allow us to build a database, a vehicle for marketing and tell us exactly where to market.
This was the breakdown of the viewership of the music videos we hosted:
For live events, we became digital sponsors of Regge Sumfest in Jamaica thanks to Headline Entertainment and @CarletteDeLeon

We also work closely with Absolute Entertainment to sponsor Stages in Miami and ATI Wekkend in Negril.
For record label, we obviously partnered with @VPRecords and our first interview for them was actually the release of @ElephantManJa album launch in early 2002.

We also needed up working with Atlantic Records when @duttypaul relationship was blossoming
One of my fave memories was hanging out with Brandy at Half-Moon thanks to Kevin Jackson.

Check out the video here -
But nothing beat going on tour with @duttypaul and seeing thousands of people loving Jamaican music.

For clothing, we worked with Cooyah and eventually wanted to launch a line with @8and9 which I’m still very close to.
Television saw us sign a deal with @RETVJamaica and appear on Mun2 “The Roof” every Friday for a year thanks to @DJGQ .

The show aired in the US and 14 Latin American countries. We got to witness the rise of Reggaeton.

Never landed a magazine partner so we considered doing our own if business allowed us.

Never landed a videogame partner but tried talking to Tapulous. Always liked the Tap Tap games and envisioned them with Dancehall beats since it seemed obvious due to the heavy drums.
We ended up signing deals with MTV’s Flux to run the backend of the website and login;

Signed the deal with Youtube to authorize other channels and generate revenue.

Signed with Imeem to secure Caribbean acts for them and use their tech to host our music content.
When Imeem asked us to get them a music video to premiere on the front page, I reached out to Steve Wilson @brandnewmachine to make sure we supported @duttypaul and we dropped the video for “Watch Them Roll”

Imeem at the time claimed to have over 10M unique visitors per month
It felt good to be the only people getting Caribbean artistes mainstream visibility on major websites like Imeem.

We next got @TOKjamaica on the music page:
We have so much unreleased footage from the years of being in studio and one day @RealReelvibez will revisit.

3 of my faves that are public:

Vybz Kartel freestyle

@Wayne_Marshall @AgentSasco and Vybz Kartel “3 The Hard Way”

Freestyle session with too many to name! -
I genuinely love my Jamaican music culture and will eventually be able to make the investments that I would love to make in the creative industries.

I promise
