/ Storytime: My mom & @ewarren were born 8 days apart. My mom was a Latinx woman whose father served in WW2 & grandfather in WW1. My mother was a civil rights advocate. She knew Nixon was a crook, & Reagan was a racist. She was never Republican, and she got her first job at 15.
a/I mention that because @EWarren was a Republican while my mother was registering democrats and protesting for equal pay. My mother had a job while @BernieSanders was "finding himself". My mom knew the crime bill was RACIST AF when Joe Biden crafted and Bernie voted for it.
b/ (Why didn't Joe and Sanders know? Why do they get a pass? Why does Warren's Wiki page have nothing under Civil rights?)
/My mother fell in love with my dad, both had to deal with the slings & arrows of being in an interracial relationship just years after Loving v Virginia. Just being together, was political. My grandfather taught Art History at American U. I was in a deeply political family.
a/ My dad said to me "If I wasn't a good ballplayer, this country would have disposed of me..." My dad is a happy go lucky person, but he knows the truth about this country and its history. He wants to see America do better (he supports Kamala btw)
/I've been going to Washington DC since I was 6 because of my grandfather, Belisario. He would take to me to Arlington Cemetery where his father was buried, and he introduced me to members of Congress. He taught me about policy, how it can hurt or help people.
/ I say this because I've dedicated my life to public service. I've never run for office, but I worked with elected leaders in Sarasota, Tallahassee, Atlanta, and NYC on homeless issues, now I work on voting rights. I never got paid for that work, I did it because I saw a need.
/I've studied policy my whole life to see how it could best serve the most marginalized. I take local to Presidential elections very seriously. When I reviewed the candidates, I picked @KamalaHarris because I knew she would do the most good in the shortest amount of time. #Khive
/A POTUS only gets 4 years, 8 if they're lucky. There is only so much a POTUS can do, but, as you've seen, they can do a lot of damage. @KamalaHarris is THE MOST PREPARED to go into the office and understand what is needed. She'd hit the ground running, no learning curve. #KHive
/ As Black/Latinx woman who has spent her life in (unpaid) pubic service I have been devastated by how the press has treated Kamala. I want that to change. I'm followed by @AriMelber @AliVelshi @jonallendc I want y'all to ask an informed voter like me, how I feel about this.
/ I want y'all to ask me why I support Kamala, and not @BernieSanders @ewarren @PeteButtigieg @JoeBiden - ask me, an informed voter why I am backing Kamala. Show me @chrislhayes @AriMelber @AliVelshi @jonallendc @NicolleDWallace @maddow @JoyAnnReid that informed voters count.
