Just received a great decision on a motion to dismiss by the Fed on the beating death case of my client. The Court dismissed the Bivens claim b/c SCOTUS has recently made it very difficult to recover under that theory. As for the FTCA claim, Judge Pauley peppered the decision /1
with such awesome lines as "Death of an inmate by blunt force trauma while in the custody of BOP represents and epic failure to provide a safe and secure environment." Huge victory.

This is the wrong tact to take. We aren’t taking anything away from anyone. We will legislate reasonable gun control measures. What many ppl don’t understand is that they’re millions of law abiding gun owners that hunt, target practice, and use firearms for home defense. 1/
These are all reasonable uses for firearms. The problem has more to do with magazine capacity. There is zero reason a civilian needs a 30+ round magazine. Further, we need to define what an assault or weapon of war is. A .22 semi auto rimfire isn’t an assault weapon. 2/
Beto’s statement sounds great to the base but to gun owning swing voters, this sounds like the beginnings of mass confiscation. Most of these voters are in swing states where we need the EC votes to win. That’s the only game in town. Hillary won the popular vote yet Trump 3/

Hank blinked his eyes open at the sound of Sumo hurrying across the floor and the front door opening, and if he strained his ears he could just hear Connor quietly shushing the dog and greeting him.
He had no idea what time it was, but it was dark, and the timed string lights Hank had hung in the bedroom window gave the room a soft orange glow. He must have finally fallen asleep. Thank god, he'd been worn and aching all day but stuck in some insomniac limbo.
A shriek and childish laughter drifted into the bedroom, and Hank groaned. Still kids running around trick-or-treating, it sounded like. Couldn't be too late, then.

A soft knock on the door frame had him turning over slowly, and Connor was peeking in at him.

Problem: Some kids can’t or won’t say “trick-or-treat.”

Actually inclusive solution: Hold the treat bowl out unconditionally. Is the point of giving out treats to make kids happy, or is the point to make them do a dog trick for you first? Think about it.
Problem: Older kids or adults trick-or-treating. Should they be doing that? It’s weird! That kid isn’t wearing a costume!

Actually inclusive solution: Instead of expecting justification, just relax and give out the dang candy. Who died and made you the Halloween police?
