1992 | Ruud Gullit and Aron Winter, fed up with racist abuse in Italy, spark the No al razzimo! ("No to racism") slogan, which was then paraded in stadiums on December 13.

1992 | Paul Ince, then of Inter, speaks out against racist abuse from fans. Ince claims opposition supporters shouted such slurs as ‘n***o’ and ‘n***o di merdia’.

2005 | Inter fans shout racist abuse at Marco Zoro during their fixture with Messina, causing the game to be temporarily suspended. There would be a five-minute delay for an anti-racism display in all games the following matchday.

2012 | Balotelli was again a victim of racist vitriol when representing Italy at the European Championship, with Spain fans making monkey noises. Balotelli is said to have received over 4,000 racist messages on social media following the incident.

2014 | Atalanta are fined €40,000 after bananas were thrown at Milan's Kevin Constant and Nigel de Jong.

Team-mate Leonardo Bonucci blames Kean, implying Kean’s goal celebration invited the abuse. Mario Balotelli defends Kean publicly.

2019 | Romelu Lukaku racially abused by Cagliari fans. Inter fan group, Curva Nord, said that the monkey chants from opposition fans were a sign of respect towards Lukaku.

Italian TV pundit Luciano Passirani was then banned for making racist comments about Lukaku.
