Probably the most sensible column I've seen on brexit for a long time, however the focus must be on austerity ... whilst the brexit issue is important, it's secondary to the wanton destruction caused by austerity and its architects (Conservative + LibDem) over the last decade

The key difference between a map and a graph is that space has meaning within a map ...
... in order for space to have meaning, you require three things - an anchor, position of pieces relative to an anchor and consistency of movement.
It tickles me pink that almost everything I see in business that calls itself "a map" has one thing in common ... it's #NotAMap

Immigration is how the hard of thinking excuse the savage cuts in our services. Immigration is something we need to invest in, along with our services and that includes reversing the misery of cuts already suffered. UK should also be looking at one off wealth taxes ->

Me : No. I started on a council estate. I went to Cambridge. I can tell you that despite enormous pressures it creates, many of the smartest people I know live in poverty. I'm talking about the chinless wonders with blue rosettes.
... if you want to release the potential of our country (a favourite phrase of Boris) then you need to invest in Sure Start (as per Labour), you need to bring down the barriers that hold people back, tackle the inequality and stop pandering to the privately educated & entitled.

I actually have his book on the desk behind me. Much like Machiavelli's The Prince, it's a manual on how to be a complete and utter bastard (and win). Many of the chapters point to why Leave won, others to why Remain lost. Based on its content, #FBPE need to get its hands dirty.
The article is very different, and it's Leavers that are the narcissists - they hold a belief in something and won't accept being called up on it, deny any facts they're shown as fake news and propaganda, while never questioning their own sources.
I have #FBPE in my bio, and it's because I value Freedom of Movement. I have benefited from it, as have my friends and family. I want to keep it, I want my fellow UK citizens to keep it, and I want EU residents in the UK to keep it too.

As we prepare for a #PeoplesVote there's been discussion on how Remain needs to listen to "the causes of Brexit"

I'm going to give the perspectives of 4 leavers I know, because potentially it's not that simple
2) these are friends and colleagues. All very well educated & in well paid work or comfortably settled. I can't say that they are representative, but there is a common theme in all their attitudes which I'll be honest in saying is fairly simplistic & not particularly appealing
3) the first said their reason for leaving was it was too easy for a migrant to get treatment on the NHS.

In terms of the NI issue & how reunification might impact "British" NI residents she said "well, if you're going to live there it's your own fault because it was a risk"

The #Brexit rant 👇
1) In 2015 Cameron went to EU for reform.
I said, if he returns with something tangible, I'd support his choice on EURef (Remain, turns out).
EU sent him home with his tail between his legs & made me a hardened #Brexit supporter, when I saw them humiliate him.
2) Cameron was a giant amongst mere clowns, but they still disrespected him.
He stands above every one of them, as the leader who steered his nation best through the choppy waters of the 2008 economic crash.
They had no RIGHT to humiliate the man.
3) Ever since then, EU has been arrogant & constantly felt entitled to humliliate our PM.
I've gone from being willing to listen & possibly Remain, to wanting out on whatever terms necessary.
WTO is my benchmark, I'll accept a reasonable deal, but no half-way measures at all.

Probably like a lot of other folk who have been members a long time I've finally left @scottishlabour.
I feel sad, given how many years I've been a member, and the great folk I've got to know there.
For the avoidance of doubt on going #LabourAntisemitism was my main reason.
But add to that the treatment of @kezdugdale and the Aberdeen councillors, threats of deselctions, and censure of those complaining about AS, whilst welcoming a holocaust denier to conference.
The ( lack of) policy on #Brexit nearly made me tear up my card.
Derek Hatton apparently welcomed back, whilst a toxic atmosphere reigns at many CLPs, and labour forums.
So sad because the UK has never needed a competent Labour Govt more.
And its never seemed further away.
