Me : How are you splitting it?
X : Using excess electricity.
Me : Where are you getting the electricity from?
X : Does it matter, it's excess?
Me : Hmmm.

... keeping a bunch of coal / oil / gas based turbines running in order to create power to split water in order to create hydrogen to then claim as a "clean fuel" is ... idiotic to say the least.
I mean, it's not the daftest idea I've heard ... there's been refrigeration submarines to create icebergs or complex carbon capture schemes. Basically, it's inertia ... the dream of keeping the old just as is whilst somehow solving future problems.
