Trump continues to be alone in attacking the career foreign service officers — this one detailed to VP Pence — and hoping it somehow accrues to his benefit. No Rs backed up his attack on Yovanovitch.

Per the Times, the IG report also indicates that MIFSUD is *not* an FBI informant and no evidence from CIA or Steele Dossier were used to open Russia probe -- a claim Trump and allies have made for years. nytimes.com/2019/11/22/us/…

In particular, Russia seized on actual occurences -- some scattershot efforts by embassy officials and lawmakers to criticize Trump or Manafort -- and mixed them with conspiracy theories about a government-wide plot.

Adam Schiff has gaveled in for the testimony of Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch. He is describing her distinguished career and toughness on corruption. "Her principled stance made her enemies."
Schiff is walking through the facts around Giuliani, Lutsenko, and the corruption that led to a campaign to have Yovanovitch recalled. Schiff today is linking the President to every fact. (Giuliani acted for his client, the President, etc.)

McKinley makes clear as a foreign service officer he tried to steer clear of the political machinations at State. From his experience he knew of Maria Yovanovitch but was not necessarily close to her.
When the summary memo of the call was released and he saw Trump’s disparaging comments about Yovanovitch, he had *three* conversations with Pompeo about issuing a statement in support of her. At no time did Pompeo ever reveal that he was on the call.
