The students staged a "Great escape".
What you see here is a co-ordination between the radicals who left and come back and those inside. This was made possible due to the solidarity shown by the peaceful protestors who marched on the police.

Over 20 voluntary first-aid personnel still trapped inside PolyU issued a statement on Tuesday afternoon denying any participation in any offence, and condemning the government for trapping them inside.
