Audience from #ITVDebate: 6.7 million. Yet received wisdom is it won’t have changed a thing. Hmm.
Anyone who has spent time talking to voters in #ge2019   knows how many are undecided and how many have the slipperiest of attachment to to their current voting intention. You don’t get get so many watching, in an election with fine margins and it not make any difference at all.

This is it from the Brexit Party, their “contract with the people” (very Newt Gingrich a la 1994). It’s a short contract. Just over 20 pages.
Never mind Newt Gingrich, policies all feel v UKIP a la 2015:
- scrap HS2
-cutting foreign aid budget by 50%
-abolish inheritance tax
One thing which has hugely impressed about the Brexit Party has been the quality of its branding, advertising etc. Slick, professional, surprising. The production of this document is, well, not...It’s never been a party with a full comprehensive platform. It’s not its purpose.

Anyway. Half the reason I’m this curmudgeonly about this is that I’ve trained thousands of people in effective voter contact and there *is* a great way to register and turn out voters! Let me tell you about it!

(Spoiler: insulting a voter is not on the best practices list)
The first rule is that you have to remember you are not representing yourself nor your opinions as a private citizen. You are representing the party or people you’re persuading a voter towards.

Which means: keep your mouth shut on your personal bugaboos if you can’t be polite
“Hi, I’m linda, and things are so wild this year that I’m motivated to get everyone to the polls. Are you planning to vote?”

As opposed to “hi, I’m linda, and I think people who don’t vote are irresponsible and a scourge. I assume you’re not one of those, are you?”

When I was a wee pup, I was forever warped by *one* book - the Usborne Book of Ghosts. One spread still haunts me - that pertaining to Borley Rectory, the 'most haunted house in England'. I’ve loved reading about it ever since - and since it’s almost Halloween... THREAD! /1
Anyone who has a strong love of the paranormal - or a good ghost story - knows about Borley Rectory. It was located in the small village of Borley, Essex, & was built on the site of 2 former residences in the 1860s. There was, naturally a church nearby, & monastic foundations. /2
Now, if you believe the stories, the rectory was built over or near an ancient monastery. The first inhabitants of the building, the Reverend Bull and his family, were the first to speak of hauntings - they claimed to see spectral figures flitting in the grounds. /3
