Cleaning up Obama's mess in the Middle East, especially regarding Israel, has made clear just how few reporters understood the extent of that mess in the first place.
The fictions Obama sought to codify about Israel—lies that have always endangered Jews—could’ve very easily become standard US policy, to our eternal shame. That Trump reversed them, at the brief moment such reversal was possible, bothers only those to whom Jewish blood is cheap.
Team Obama made a smart bet: it was highly unlikely someone would come in to the State Department and stick their neck out to right the wrongs done to the Jews. But against the odds it happened.
