Keep in mind that our “peaceful transition of power” is one of those norms that presidents have historically abided by voluntarily and unquestionably.
We are seeing the damage that can be done if one side has no regard for norms and institutions (Republicans) and the other side obsesses over norms and civility as though they are all that matter

Republicans have been playing by a different set of rules for a long time. We HAVE to have an opposition party that will level the playing field because our system is too fragile not to have robust opposition.
