2/#RudyColludy raised eyebrows when ThinkProgress first reported he’d b speaking alongside a sanctioned Russian official at panel n Armenia in 2018. confusion was amplified by actual speech content— prompting observers to q y he wld b invited to speak abt technology n 1st place

3/Glazyev has history of working closely w some of the US’s most notorious anti-Semites. The pair were on a panel at Eurasian Wk conf, an annual affair dedicated to the future of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), which includes Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan & Belarus.

4/topic of Giuliani’s panel was “Technological breakthru & EAEU potential,” a subj which Giuliani wld appear to have lil expertise. But that lack of knowledge didn’t stop him from speaking for 20 mins on topics from sharing intel to electric grids to safety of driver-less 🚘

5/His lack of expertise on the various topics was imm apparent to at least 1 member of the audience. “Giuliani showed up, & they gave him the podium, & he gave a talk on cybersecurity — but quite frankly it was a total BS talk,” one attendee told ThinkProgress.

6/Despite Giuliani’s claims that he was in Armenia as a private citizen, both conf mat’l & his own intro identified him as an adviser to tRump. (Giuliani is the most prominent Trump adviser to now speak alongside a sanctioned Russian official in a supposedly private capacity.)

7/And when he was asked whether the US & EAEU cld potentially cooperate in the realm of cybersecurity, Giuliani responded, “I don’t see any risks in sharing secrets on cybersecurity.” !!!!!!!

9/altho that proj eventually faltered following Russia’s 2014 invasion of Ukraine. Despite Giuliani’s nominal role as a cybersecurity adv to the president, his work on the matter appears negligible, & it’s unclear whether he’s accomplished anything of note while in the position —

10/besides flying to Armenia to stand alongside Glazyev.
Giuliani’s partners: It’s worth noting who joined Giuliani at conf: In addition to Glazyev, Giuliani’s co incl’d individuals like Abrahamyan, businessman who has previously said that Putin “gives orders & I carry them out,”

11/and others who have vocally defended the Kremlin in the past.
As Talking Points Memo’s Josh Kovensky noted: Giuliani was invited to the event by Russian-Armenian multimillionaire Abrahamyan who heads the Union of Armenians of Russia, according to a local press report.

12/Abrahamyan was awarded an order “For merit to the fatherland” by Putin at Kremlin last yr. He sits on advisory brd of TriGlobal Strategic Ventures, a consulting firm NYT described as “providing image consulting to Russian oligarchs & clients w deep Kremlin ties.”

13/Another listed speaker, Russian official Georgy Kalamanov, recently offered a full-throated defense of the Kremlin against accusations that Moscow was responsible for the poisoning of Russian ex-spy Sergei Skripal in the U.K.
