Now we know why Trump is obsessed with the whistleblower—even though his/her complaint has now been corroborated by innumerable witnesses testifying under oath on TV. It was *specifically* the whistleblower who foiled Trump's plot to get Zelensky to announce a Biden probe on CNN.
/ The few times I represented a sociopath in court, I noticed that even when something goes their way—something big—they don't feel happiness or satisfaction in the way non-sociopaths would. Trump getting away with so much—yet being mad at the *whistleblower*—is *100%* on-brand.
/ You or I would let it go; we'd focus on the parade of *non-anonymous* witnesses testifying under oath to *things we actually did*. We'd feel guilt about what we did. Trump, by comparison, wants the person who crossed him hunted down, prosecuted, and, if possible, put to death.
/ Trump's inclinations are almost unimaginably scary. Look at it this way: he was handed his whole life *on a platter*—with a gift of tens or even *hundreds* of millions of dollars from his dad that he later lied about. Even with that money, he spent his life committing crimes.
/ It wasn't just needless white-collar crimes he committed, either—"needless" because he didn't need the money he was stealing, defrauding, laundering (&c)—it was *violent* crimes, too. He had the ability to attract smart, interesting women—but he *also* wanted to assault them.
/ Some people on the right say, okay, so even if he committed many white-collar crimes in the past and is accused of committing many violent crimes over the years, that isn't really showing up in his presidency. Except now it is: in bribes (for him) and genocide (for the Kurds).
/ My point: Trump's *governing* as a sociopath. He's not a sociopath "passing" as normative while in the White House—he's a sociopath terrorizing all of America by *being a sociopath* while in the White House. His transparency—in this one respect—is almost grotesquely admirable.
