As you watch this, please bear in mind that the Tories have been in power 3,496 consecutive days. That's three *thousand* four hundred and ninety six days.
This, while child poverty has risen steadily ever since the Tories came to power in 2010.

The situation has been particularly dire for single parent families, and families with more than 2 children, because of the way the Tories have slashed away the benefits system.

So every time you hear Boris Johnson propose another policy to help the better off, another tax tweak to benefit higher earners, think about this thread.

Everything's a choice. The Tories *could* make tackling child poverty a top priority. But for 3,496 days they've not done so.

Fuel duty freezes since 2010 have cost the Treasury over £46 billion in foregone tax revenue. This giveaway to motorists is now running at over £8 billion/year.

It's bad for the environment too, as it encourages car use over public transport use.

That's £46 billion of austerity cuts that could have been avoided if fuel duty had continued to rise each year.

NOTE: Only 1/3 of the poorest 10% of UK households own a car, so 2/3 don't benefit from the fuel freeze whereas all will have been affected by the austerity cuts.
But it's worse than that. Not only do poorer people own fewer cars, they also drive less far. Compare the average mileage of the 20% of people with the highest & lowest incomes. In other words, the rich benefit by far the most from the fuel tax freeze!

We've just released the final report by @Alston_UNSR, the UN Special Rapporteur on extreme #poverty, on his visit to the #UK. The report is available here: undocs.org/A/HRC/41/39/Ad…. A few key takeaways:
Some have asked me why a UN expert on #poverty would visit the #UK. Unfortunately, although the UK is the world’s 5th largest economy, 14 million are in poverty, child poverty is rising & predicted to reach 40% by 2021, homelessness is up 60%, and food bank use has skyrocketed.
To understand #poverty in the #UK, you have to look at the massive disinvestment in social support since 2010: the end of a centralized social fund, changes to the ways benefits are capped & calculated that substantially reduce their value, the decimation of civil legal aid, etc.

The horrible event started on Saturday evening. He called her up to go out with him. She met him up and they went to a bar in Wuse. Then he told her to follow him to a club and she agreed. Please bear in mind that she has know him for over a year

I am specialist rape prosecutor and I can only recount my own personal professional experience. I also have defended Rape cases. I wasn’t going to do a thread about this but here we are.
This policy was designed to allow complainants to make an informed choice about their mobile phones and to set out in writing what *could* happen to it.
It was acknowledged that it marks a potentially significant intrusion into someone’s private affairs.
