Our system is awesome and the best in the world for people who intend to never become old or sick, or love anybody who does.

Also: our life expectancy is going down.
Weird coincidence about U.S. life expectancy going down: millions of people living longer lives would be a financial disaster for the bottom line of the U.S. life insurance industry, which coincidentally controls access to health care. Anyway,
The argument over health care is, again, this:

*Should we care for sick people or profit off of them?*

Kind of 'wow' when you see it written like that, huh.
The answer to "why should I have to pay if I'm not the one sick?" is a pretty simple answer.

It's this:

"Because we aren't a heartless greedy society that profits off of people's ill health."

See?
It's almost as if the people arguing hardest for the status quo—which, again, is profiting off of the people in the most dire illness—are making that argument because of the 100s of billions of dollars of profits to be made from illness, and maybe we can stop listening to them.
