It's Bullock's choice what he wants to do with his political career. It's also McConnell's choice what he wants the Senate to be, and he has decided it's going to be something that makes the people in it yearn for the sweet release of death.

Bullock essentially understands that if he beats Daines, he's not going to be able to do anything for Montana there. He won't be allowed to legislate. He won't have a meaningful voice in whatever committee he's given. Basically all he'll get to do is vote on judges.
Hell, even if Democrats win the Senate, McConnell will still rule the chamber with the filibuster. He did from 2011-2015.
As much as I want Bullock to do his part and run to topple McConnell, I understand why he doesn't want the life awaiting him if he did that.
