Here's the stupidest manufactured GOP scandal you'll ever hear.

Roy Cooper successfully pushed Duke Energy to fund a $58 million climate change mitigation program at the same time they were seeking a permit to build a pipeline. Republicans are claiming this is a "quid pro quo".
Most people would look at this and say, "Wow, the governor just required a company to pay for their emissions. That's a great deal for the state."

Republicans are saying "The governor made a company pay money into a state fund! Clearly there must be something corrupt about it."
First of all, there's no actual evidence that creating the climate change fund was actually a condition of getting the pipeline permit, and Cooper denies it. But second of all, even if it was, that would actually make what Cooper did look BETTER from a climate policy perspective.
It seems as though Republicans have become so corrupt that they literally can't tell the difference between using government power to create public policy and using it to enrich oneself.

It's truly sad.
Here's a better question: Why is the gerrymandered GOP North Carolina General Assembly hiring its own team of "investigators," on taxpayer dime, to go poking around into how a climate change fund was created?

Didn't NC voters independently elect @NCAGO to handle investigations?
