Support and respect are earned, not given as the result of a demand from those who carry badges and guns.
Barr is telling communities to bow their heads in respect to police even if those same police are violating their rights and killing people without justification.

This administration has repeatedly made it clear that it is not interested in holding law enforcement accountable.
Communities of color around the country are consistently being abused by their police departments without receiving the type of public safety benefits that Attorney General Barr described.
Police work for communities, not the other way around.

It's time for increased Congressional oversight of the Department of Justice, and its policy and practices on local policing.

BREAKING: We just filed a federal lawsuit seeking damages on behalf of thousands of traumatized children and parents who were forcibly torn from each other under the Trump administration's illegal practice of separating families at the border.
Thousands of children, including babies and toddlers, were ripped from their parents' arms with little or no warning. No explanations were given as to why they were being separated.
No answers were provided as to where the children were taken. No information was given to either the children or parents about each other's whereabouts.

Today the @USDOL proposed a new rule aimed at undermining our civil rights laws in the name of religion ⤵️
The new rule is only the latest Trump administration proposal to license discrimination in the name of religion to harm:
➖ LGBTQ people
➖ people from minority faith groups
➖ all women
➖ people of color
➖ immigrants
In January 2018, @HHSgov created the "Conscience and Religious Freedom Division," led by people who have built their careers attacking LGBTQ and reproductive rights.

Battle at the PolyU now happening along Cheong Wan Road above the cross harbour tunnel, while on the other end of the road near the intersection of Chatham Road S where the water cannon was at, things remain in a standstill.
Entered the school for a tour, where all sorts of materials and utilities are being put to use, such as the gymnasium mat.
People have donated all sorts of supplies as wel. Here’s a first-aider finding water boots of the right size. Raincoats, gas masks and other protective gear were being handed out. One makes announcement remaining press not to livestream on campus.

After the first round of #DemDebates I'm 100% confident Trump will win in a landslide because the Democrat party is imploding on itself. It has no message that's appealing to American citizens.

These debates weren't for American Democrats.
These candidates were pandering to specifically immigrants for votes and big donors like the Koch brothers for big money.

They know they're not appealing to average Americans or even citizens of their own party.
They're still trying to cover up a simple fact.

Trump was a former Democrat who stole their Blue collar/labor platform right out from underneath them. They can't run on the economy or get union support.

The Unions and labor groups were the backbone of the Democrat party.

Today is the Punya Thithi of Alluri Sitarama Raju, the great revolutionary hero who led an uprising against the British in the tribal regions of Andhra Pradesh, and was shot dead by them on this date in 1924. Another great hero who did not get his due.
One of the more ignored aspects of the Indian freedom struggle has been the various tribal revolts that broke out against the British rule. Tribals were prohibited from cutting trees for firewood, their traditional Podu cultivation was banned, and they were often exploited
Many protests broke out in the tribal areas of Eastern Indian, notably Jharkhand, Chattisgarh, Western Odisha, Bengal, one of the more famous one was that of Birsa Munda in Jharkhand.

Expert tip 1: One provision for sharing grand jury info does not even require prior court approval.

Expert tip 2: Barr is apparently daring Congress with idea it needs to start impeachment proceedings to qualify for the other provision. Lederman's analysis shows that's false.

The first chapter begins with a T.S. Eliot quote arguing that, in the end, you can't judge a party by what it says its aims are; a party will reveal what it's trying to accomplish by its actions.

Sometimes the party itself isn't sure what it's doing.
Robin then begins with his view of history as being full of unequal power relations and the tensions that arise between them.
