Today the @USDOL proposed a new rule aimed at undermining our civil rights laws in the name of religion ⤵️

The new rule is only the latest Trump administration proposal to license discrimination in the name of religion to harm:
➖ LGBTQ people
➖ people from minority faith groups
➖ all women
➖ people of color
➖ immigrants

In January 2018, @HHSgov created the "Conscience and Religious Freedom Division," led by people who have built their careers attacking LGBTQ and reproductive rights.

In November 2018, Trump's @HHSgov released final rules that let virtually any employer refuse coverage of birth control based on the employer's religious or moral views.

Multiple courts have blocked this rule.

In January of this year, @HHSgov allowed South Carolina to give taxpayer dollars to an agency that will turn away prospective foster parents who are Jewish, Catholic or LGBTQ. This will keep kids out of loving homes.

In February, HHS issued a rule opening the federal family planning program, Title X, to entities opposed to abortion because of religion, by removing requirements that providers give all-options counseling that includes abortion info.

In May, @HHSgov finalized a rule that would dramatically expand the ability of federally funded health care institutions and workers to deny patients information and treatment based on religious beliefs.

In May, @HHSgov proposed a rule that would embolden discrimination against trans people and others accessing care by exempting religiously affiliated health care institutions from protections in federal law.

In May, @HUDgov announced it soon will be proposing a rule that would allow federally funded homeless shelters to turn away transgender people. The proposed rule could come any day.

In July, the @StateDept announced a new "human rights" commission led by anti-LGBTQ and anti-women advocates with a legacy of pushing for a religious license to discriminate.

This is all happening at a time when @TheJusticeDept under Trump claimed that protecting LGBTQ people from discrimination is a violation of religious freedom while enforcing the deeply discriminatory Muslim Ban.

These departments and many others are working to dismantle protections for countless Americans.

This isn't religious freedom. It's discrimination.

We will continue to fight in courts, in Congress, and in our communities, to stop Trump from rolling back our rights.
