Many people in the generation that said, in 1969, "don't trust anyone over 30" seems oddly invested, in 2019, in the idea that people under 30 shouldn't be trusted.
I'm not trying to attack Boomers. I have many Boomers who are beloved friends and relatives. I'm just saying, try having a little historical self-awareness now and then, especially if you're a person with power and a platform.
"My generation had it right and this new generation is messed up" is what every single generation has said about the generation that follows them for centuries. It's a stupid script and we can choose not to follow it.
There's also the generational script that goes "those old people are idiots and don't know anything," and that's also a stupid script that we should avoid replicating. But I find it more forgivable when it's younger folks doing it. Older folks should know better.
