there are 204 references to Steele's "Primary Sub-Source" in IG document. All of this looks new. I'm going to parse these first.
2/ Steele never disclosed identity of Primary Sub-Source to FBI. However, FBI identified Primary Sub-Source by Jan 2017 and arranged a meeting 
3/ a key (and wildly implausible) Steele allegation about Carter Page was supposed offer of commission by Sechin. Primary Sub-Source says that he did not give that information to Steele. Provided texts to FBI from sub-sub-source. Wonder what they say.
4/ Steele appears to have fabricated claim that Ritz Carlton incident was "confirmed", when Primary Sub-Source said it was "rumor and speculation"
5/ information about sub-sub-source on Sechin meeting redacted. FBI was never able to verify meeting with Sechin. Carter Page did meet with a friend Baranov, who was a much, much lower tier employee of Rosneft and not sanctioned - an important distinction
6/ Primary Sub-Source was questioned again in March 2017 by Washington Field Office agent (WFO Agent 1). I interpret this detail as support for identification of Halper as Primary Sub-Source (PSS). PSS purported to minimize fabrications passed to Steele as "just talk".
7/ but don't forget that Halper similarly made up damaging fantasy about Flynn and @RealSlokhova, so attempt to point finger at Steele may be disingenuous. I'm sure there will be mutual finger pointing.
@RealSLokhova 8/ Primary Sub-Source said that his sub-sub-sources did not have access to information either. That it was "multiple levels of hearsay"
@RealSLokhova 9/ Primary Sub-Source was asked for corroboration after election. Was "none". Told this to Crossfire Hurricane team in Jan 2017.
@RealSLokhova 10/ if Primary Sub-Source = Halper (as appears highly likely), then DOJ's refusal of documents in response to Nunes' Apr 24, 2018 letter appears in entirely new and damaging light. DOJ knew then that Steele stuff was a crock, but was determined to prop up Mueller until midterms
@RealSLokhova 11/ on Feb 15, 2017, Strzok questioned Steele's judgment of network. Supervisory Intel Analyst proposed several possible explanations of discrepancies - note long redacted footnote 342
@RealSLokhova 12/ Strzok (who I regard as more consistently professional than allowed for most commentary) told OIG that it was impossible to separate original sub-sub-source material from embellishments by Steele and.or Primary Sub-Source.
@RealSLokhova 13/ FBI interviewed Steele in Sep 2017. Total discrepancy between Steele's story about sub-sub-source and Primary Sub-Source's story.
@RealSLokhova 14/ as I go through other sections, it appears to me that FBI's "Source 2" (pages 312ff), who met Page in mid-July conference and who met with him near Washington in August, must be Halper. Maybe Dearlove is Primary Sub-Source? Why don't they just say!
@RealSLokhova 15/ although Crossfire Hurricane wasn't opened unti Jul 31, a counterintelligence operation on Carter Page was opened on April 6. Presumably cases also open earlier on Flynn, Manafort (as I had surmised previously). Looking for reference in report.
