When I beat up man who sexually assaulted me in a Montreal club in Feb 2018, club manager pointed to my beloved & asked me “Why didn’t you let your husband take care of it?”
A man is expected to use violence vs a man who assaults “his woman.” Heaven forbid a woman uses violence
How often do you hear men vow “I’ll kill any man who rapes my wife/daughter/etc?” Men are expected to protect “their women.” Patriarchy entitles them to our bodies - to assault and to protect.
But heaven forbid a woman asks “How long must we wait for men and boys to stop murdering us, to stop beating us and to stop raping us? How many rapists must we kill?"
Women can’t fucking win for trying. When I started finally speaking about. Wing sexually assaulted twice when I went on Hajj in 1982, I was asked repeatedly “Why didn’t you fight/make a fuss?”
After #Egyptian riot police broke my left arm & right hand & sexually assaulted me near Tahrir Sq 8yrs ago, I went to ER after 12hrs in detention. When I told triage nurse what happened first thing she said was “How could you let them do that to you? Why didn’t you fight?”
After I made a fuss and beat up the man who sexually assaulted me in that Montréal club in 2018, so many men asked me “Don’t you think you overreacted?”
So tell me: how many rapists must we kill before men stop raping women?

And why is the first half of that question more disturbing than the second half? Why is hypothetical violence against men more disturbing than actual daily violence against women?

The beginning of the Violence chapter in my book, in which I ask deliberately disturbing questions & draw a deliberately disturbing IMAGINARY scenario. It’s telling that IMAGINARY violence against men upsets misogynists MORE than ACTUAL violence against women. #7necessarysins
I insist we push the conversation until we get to the part where men fear women enough that rape becomes an anomaly. So how many rapists must we kill? And I don’t want the state to protect me because “protection” is conditional. I want to be free of patriarchy, not at its mercy.
If you’re wondering about the consequences of saying what I’m saying: the episode of the #Australian TV show from where those ☝🏽clips are from has been banned. That’s how disturbing imaginary violence against men is
