.@vingopal the CDC clear states herd immunity can’t be obtained/ doesn’t apply to the following vaccine: tetanus, pertussis, diphtheria, Hep C, flu, Mumps. The vaccinated can carry and spread these infections, many times w/out showing symptoms. I’ll quote the cdc below w/ links
Tetanus: (cdc.gov/tetanus/about/…) The CDC states“tetanus is different from other vaccine-preventable diseases because it does not spread from person to person.” @vingopal @INparentingNJ @InsideVaccines @LatusStacey @nj1015
CDC: “Public health experts cannot rely on herd immunity to protect people from pertussis (pt) since: Pt spreads so easily, vaccine protection decreases over time, pt vaccines may not prevent carrying pt without getting sick or spread of the bacteria.” (cdc.gov/pertussis/abou… )
According to the CDC “acellular pertussis vaccines may not prevent colonization (carrying the bacteria in your body without getting sick) or spread of the bacteria” hence the vaccinated can carry and spread pertussis without displaying any symptoms. (cdc.gov/pertussis/abou… )
The CDC goes further to state that “children who haven’t received DTaP vaccines … are not the driving force behind the large scale outbreaks or epidemics” and this was the case during the 2019 California outbreaks (latimes.com/local/californ…) .@vingopal @INparentingNJ @nj1015
.@vingopal Finally, the CDC states “the epidemiology of pertussis has changed in recent years, with an increasing burden of disease among fully-vaccinated children and adolescents.” (cdc.gov/vaccines/pubs/…)
.@vingopal Diphtheria: cdc.gov/diphtheria/cli… Like pertussis, CDC states “circulation of the bacteria appears to continue in some settings, even in populations with more than 80% childhood vaccination rates. An asymptomatic carrier state can exist even among immune individuals”
Hep B: cdc.gov/hepatitis/hbv/…) The Hep B virus is not spread in the community setting as the CDC states “HBV is not spread through food or water, sharing eating utensils, breastfeeding, hugging, kissing, hand holding, coughing, or sneezing.”
.@vingopal @nj1015 @LatusStacey
.@vingopal For this reason students with the actual Hep B virus are allowed in schools as they are no risk to the student population... but NJ’s new law will force kids w/out Hep B to stay home while infected kids are in school. What Dr thinks this is sound public health policy?
Mumps:CDC says “People who previously had one/two doses of MMR vax can still get mumps & transmit the disease. During mumps outbreaks in hi vaccinated communities, the proportion of cases that occur among people who have been vaccinated may be high. “ .@vingopal Herd immunity?
.@vingopal Flu: (cdc.gov/flu/vaccines-w…) CDC records show that over the last 15 years, starting in the 2004-2005 flu season, the flu vaccine effectiveness estimates average 39.9% effective. Why mandate a shot that doesn’t work over 60% of the time and has know adverse effects?
.@vingopal if you are serious abt public health you should call for task force 2 study which vaccines should have RE removed. Surely not all of them as most simply protect the individual. Today’s vote will remove a fundamental right without a public health crisis to justify it
