Govt sources on #NRC_CAA - Law provides for a national identity card under section 14A of citizenship act...that card could be issued after NRIC to all those who make it to NRIC. NPR can be the basis of NRC
Aadhar, Election I card, Pan Card, Passport are not citizenship documents. Final rules of #NRC yet to be formed but these documents only show residency, not citizenship. To prove citizenship one has to show birth or naturalisation- Govt sources #CAA_NRC_Protests
Plz see this in light of the previous tweet about national identity card. Govt's take- so far no pan India single Citizenship document exists. That will be done post NRC. Will the existing documents mentioned above be accepted to get your name included in NRC? Not clear yet
