Question on sex & gender:

If anyone reads scientific literature/mainstream sources, sex is the biology (nature) & gender is the social construct (nurture). Humans reproduce with anisogamy: two gametes.

Are both sex & gender now considered social constructs in current discourse?
I honestly don't understand the current state of the discourse, and why is it so polarized & touchy. If there is a new scientific consensus on human biology regarding sex & gender, I would love to read it, absorb it & update my thinking.
I don't think I'm the only one bewildered by recent developments & the violence of controversies on this topic. Either I'm unaware of the latest scientific findings despite my research, or I'm just witnessing ideological confrontation - in which case it's rather worrying.
Living in democracy means compromise & accepting differing points of view. Just like with religion, we can all love, respect & enable each other in our identities without having to share the exact same gods or beliefs.
I agree on the future: we are clearly going to take evolution in our hands past our biological setup, separating sex, love & reproduction.

However, the destruction of sex as a descriptor sounds terrifyingly dystopian to the very vast majority of people.

If we take the most favorable (debated) figure of 1.7% intersex, biological sex (nature) does not qualify as a spectrum.

Gender identity, however, is a smooth spectrum between male & female. I myself never felt very masculine.
"The 1.7% intersex figure includes conditions which most clinicians do not recognize as intersex: Klinefelter syndrome, Turner syndrome, late-onset adrenal hyperplasia.

With a more precise definition, the true prevalence of intersex is about 0.018%."

I wish politicians, journalists & activists would be more scientifically literate, made their research neutrally, and stopped sourcing their infos from partisans in order to push an agenda.

We should support the variety of gender identities without disregarding scientific facts.
