At the police station, I was told 23 policemen too were injured in Friday clashes. Beyond this, officials not willing to respond to questions.

Bijnor SP did not take my calls or respond to a text message.

Update: Bijnor police told Indian Express that four policemen sustained bullet injuries. The police claim that an injured constable fired and killed a 20-year-old man in self defence.

His family alleges he was picked up and shot dead.

I really don’t get Amit Shah’s point. Because Pakistan and Bangladesh have treated their religious minorities badly, does India have to equalise things by replicating religious discrimination?
This dubious logic will of course make complete sense of those who want India to become a Hindu rashtra.

Hundreds of people, many of them white-collar workers, are taking part in a lunch-hour protest march in Central district. The protesters chanted slogans such as “five demands, not one less!”. Some say they’ve come out to protest against the police shooting of a student yesterday.
The protesters made a powerful declaration in an open area next to Grand Millennium Plaza in Sheung Wan, saying they’re workers in Central who do not accept the lies told by the police and the govt & chanted “rather be a shattered piece of jade than an unbroken piece of pottery”
Many people can now sing the protest anthem “Glory to Hong Kong” by heart
