It has long been recognized that Torture produces nothing worthwhile, except for extracting false confessions.

In Warfare it is counter productive as it will make the enemy fight harder to avoid being defeated, captured & tortured, especially if the torturer is a foreign invader
These people tortured to obtain false confessions to go to war on a lie in Iraq.
Cheney, Rumsfeld, Bush, Gonzales, Tenet, Hayden, Brennan and all the other torturers should be in jail.

The torture in Abu Ghraib was specifically ordered by Donald Rumsfeld (on orders from Cheney) to kick start the Sunni uprising and start the Civil War in Iraq, to recruit thousands of al-Qaeda type terrorists and turn Iraq & wider ME into chaos & carnage.

It was VERY SUCCESSFUL.
Newly unemployed officers of Saddam's disbanded secular Ba'athist army were imprisoned in Camp Bucca with Islamist Extremists.

This radicalized Saddam's Army Officers & gave military training to the terrorists - including future ISIS leader al-Baghdadi
