I repeat: If Labour has a leader who has simply appeased and pandered to the nationalist bull**** that brought us here, rather than tackled it head on, the Left will stay divided and Johnson will win again.

To those of you saying "patriotism doesn't always = nationalism":
Patriotism is the baseline! Nobody should be in public office if they're not patriotic.
But framing yourself around patriotism, ESPECIALLY when nationalism is rising, says you plan to go beyond normal patriotism.
Again, when the Right is taking over the first question to ask is "What the hell is the Left doing"...
A series of leaders who simply went with the populist flow IS NOT what we should be seeing.

I admit: it's a fine line between showing the economic benefit EU27 citizens bring to the UK, to reassure financially vulnerable Brits that immigration isn't a threat... And simply commodifying/objectifying human beings.
"Low-value... People" is on the wrong side of that line.
I'll keep saying:
If you know that immigration is a net benefit to our economy but people at the bottom are still suffering, it's the government's job to properly distribute that benefit via taxation & supporting unions.
Blaming/dehumanising migrants instead says a lot about you.
The argument is often made that immigration puts pressure on wages in the construction sector.
A) Not black & white as we have a housing crisis.
B) If the construction sector unionised properly to avoid exploitation and ensure fair pay across the sector: no more "undercutting".

For the record, we have suspended the activities of @OFOCBrexit. @Will_DryOFOC and I agreed to devote its remaining resources to the @OFOCNI branch due to the problems the Brexit deal creates for Northern Ireland.
I cannot thank all of you enough for your support.
Several of the @OFOCBrexit team suspended their university education to fight Brexit. And with the acute phase of that fight over and a 5-year Johnson term ahead, they need to get on with their lives.
No matter how early or recently they joined/left us. They were total soldiers!

Sadly I couldn't do my planned grilling but here it is:
1️⃣ Do all leave voters support Johnson's Brexit? No. So the 2016 result isn't a mandate for it
2️⃣ Why was the election called? To get Johnson's Brexit deal through
3️⃣ Did the majority vote to let his Brexit deal through? No
4️⃣ So if our election system can allow our country to be trapped in 7+ years of negotiations as a direct result of an election where the majority voted NOT to do that, does that not mean electoral reform is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY?
I'd played it out several times in my head, predicting every possible response...but it would have been quite a combative way of doing it, and given that everyone had been really non-confrontational, festive even, up until that point, it felt wrong to go for the throat.

Here's the clip of Rebecca Long-Bailey confirming that Labour would only make up its mind on backing Leave or Remain in a second referendum *after* renegotiating Brexit.

In other words we have zero clarity on THE issue of the election! Useless.
Fantastic ammunition for the LibDems, but not what we need to cobble together a Remain Alliance. Imagine you vote for Labour. They get in, then a few months later they interpret your vote as a mandate for them to campaign for Leave in a second referendum. How angry would you be?
Here's the real problem: if the Labour manifesto reflects the same ambiguity when it's published in a couple of weeks, there will be no hiding it: a strategic vote for them could *at their whim* be parlayed into a Leave referendum stance. Let's see what the document says!

Rebecca Long-Bailey confirmed on Sophy Ridge this morning that Labour could well campaign for Leave in a second referendum, and that their campaign stance would depend on the exact nature of the better Brexit deal Labour can negotiate with the EU. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

But voters have to decide *now* which way to cast their Remain vote. How they can do that rationally when Labour won't disclose its full stance, I have no idea.
And the problem is this explicit ambiguity will allow people to claim post-GE that a vote for Labour was a vote to Leave, just like it was interpreted that way after the 2017 GE.
