Fantastic ammunition for the LibDems, but not what we need to cobble together a Remain Alliance. Imagine you vote for Labour. They get in, then a few months later they interpret your vote as a mandate for them to campaign for Leave in a second referendum. How angry would you be?
Here's the real problem: if the Labour manifesto reflects the same ambiguity when it's published in a couple of weeks, there will be no hiding it: a strategic vote for them could *at their whim* be parlayed into a Leave referendum stance. Let's see what the document says!
And if Labour, Tories and Brexit Party all stand separately together (you know what I mean) for Leave, then Remain becomes a fringe "LibDem thing". That's how Leave will fall over themselves to portray it at every single opportunity. And in that situation Remain will lose.
Imagine trying to fight a referendum and get proper media attention when both the Government and the Offical Opposition have the same Leave stance. With the best will in the world, it can't be done. Our biased media will see to that.
Take off your Labour supporter hat (assuming you're one) and imagine how tactical non-Labour voters would feel:
1. they helped vote in a Corbyn government (by definition not their ideal scenario)
2. their tactical vote gets parlayed into a referendum Leave stance
