This is why I hate Milyukov and the Kadets.

They simultaneously made seeking a separate peace impossible to seek while framing their naked power grab as patriotism ensuring Russian capitulation in the war for the benefit of its least capable men.
Nicholas II and Louis XVI’s biggest faults was that they convinced themselves that they didn’t have to massacre their respective Tennis Courts or publicly disembowel their Phillip Egalites. Nicholas more than Louis deserves his Jobesque sainthood imo.
My biggest historical conspiracy is that Miliukov and Kerensky had contacts with their spooked Masonic French and British intelligence friends who gave the green light to engineer a coup if they thought the Tsar would make peace. That the Feburary government had Entente blessings
It makes very little rational sense that everyone was rushing to delegitimize the Tsar and fuck up the army and bureaucracy, and hence the war effort just for their own enfranchisement. Either way, this malice was treason in the non degraded sense of that term.
If there is anyone frozen in the bottom pit of hell for the Revolution, it’s not Lenin, not Stalin or Trotsky, not the ethnic separatists or the peasants, or even the chaff in the streets who mostly got theirs. It’s Miliukov, Kerensky, and the Progressive Block of The forth Duma.
The Liberal Duma shot itself from the start with the Dyarchy it created with the Petrograd Soviet. The Duma had lifted the coalition of socialist parties into the position it had just used to overthrow the Tsar and expected the Soviet to act in good faith because it had seats.
In fact, they immediately set themselves on a war footing with the only people who could have secured their own order, the police and the bureaucracy because they had been ideological foes under the Tsar. This is the reason I say a White Movement without royalism was stillborn.
Never trust any Libertarians and do not invite them to have any real power in your coalition. They don’t know how to use it anyway
Guchkov was one of the turncoat “monarchists” who opportunistically joined the Progressive block for a job and to attend trendy brunches rather than back his own sovereign. He was awarded by immediately having the Soviet neuter the army and his position as defense minister.
The army devolved into anarchy, the officers deserted or were shot be their own soldiers as the war effort basically ground to a halt. Those “saviors” from German “influence” in the royal family had just given Germany victory in the east as their first action in power.
The Tsar understood the weaknesses of the people in charge of the government, he knew that if they obtained power they couldn’t hold onto it because their careers had been made solely in taking petulant bad faith shots at his own administration, and never wielding power.
Seriously you really can’t make this shit up.
You can read this and just laugh/cry at the provisional government.

This and the 90’s are why liberals will never be anything other than a foreign spookhouse inside of Russia itself.
Immediately the instigators of the Tsar’s abdication were surprised that they seemingly had no legitimacy. Kerensky, having no vision without the Tsar to have as a punching bag, immediately wanted to die, putrid man.
Along with the fact the urban workers were mostly peasants who couldn’t make it, and the recent increase in relative peasant capital, Lenin’s own ideological edge was that the peasantry was a petty bourgeois class. The hatred of the peasantry wax multifaceted and visceral.
