If anyone doubts that the Republican Party has morphed into an authoritarian party, see McConnell’s words ⤵️

Do not criticize. Do not question. Believe whatever the president (who lies constantly) tells you.

@senatemajldr Some people commenting evidently don't understand how the Constitution works.

The President doesn't have unilateral authority to conduct foreign policy however he chooses.

We have a thing called "checks and balances."

They're not teaching this stuff in high school anymore?
@senatemajldr Procedure is crucial.

Procedure and process prevents authoritarianism.

A president making unilateral decisions, and telling Congress to wait for a briefing is just not how things are supposed to work.

Meanwhile, I’m going to tell you all an election story.

While in law school, I attended a lecture from a visiting elections lawyer. He was there to tell us what it was like to be an elections lawyer.
He told us this story:

A volunteer worker in a local election found a box of ballots that hadn’t been counted. She took the box out to her car. (I heard the story a long time ago, so I don’t remember her reason for that.)

It was raining.

She forgot to close the lid, so the ballots got wet.
She thought about what to do 🤔and got an idea💡

She took the ballots back inside and put them in the microwave to dry them out.

You guessed it. When she finished trying to dry them out, they were ruined and unreadable.

The hitch is that even if the Chief Justice does make a ruling, he can be overruled by a majority of Senators.

This, by the way, is what @TimothyDSnyder calls "governing by crisis and spectacle."

Yes, of course it's a distraction from the impeachment.

But Trump has been manufacturing crises since taking office.

Snyder explains that it's actually a fascist form of governing.

They changed their party registration then worked against #progressives when they run against #moderates. Women of color were especially impacted by moderate party policies & actions in 2018

Both women won- despite institutional #Democrat opposition. Hopefully this teaches local Democrats about the power & need for #diversity & representation in #SanDiego politics

Why aren't Americans taking about the foreign influence in the US government that continues to send our men and woman to fight immoral wars?

#Trump when he campaigned for president, before he decided to let Adelson fund his campain!

Adelson was one of the biggest donors to Trumps presidential campain. Adelsons company saved 670 million dollars from the massive republican tax break. Adelson did not support the Iran deal & wanted the US embassy moved to Jerusalem.

Adelson has a direct line to #potus!

Adelson has private in-person meetings & phone conversations about once a month with #Trump!

Adelson used his access to move the embassy in Israel to Jerusalem and cut aid to Palestinians.

What is fascism as an individual difference or personality variable? The cluster of traits unique to people likely to be duped by Trump.
These traits include:
1. Conventionalism: rigid traditional values
2. Submission: “submissive, uncritical attitude toward idealized moral values of in group”
3. Aggression: tendency to look for violations of conventional values & punish the transgressor
4. Not a fan of imagination or aesthetics
5. Black and white thinking & tendency to believe in astrology or the like
6. Obsession with dominance-submission, sadism-masochism, identification with powerful, tough, strong
7. General disgust and hostility for humanity/people

Americans are once again allowing the Republican and Democrat party divide us over race, when in fact race is not the issue! Please look at the foreign policies these woman support, and the policies they do not support! This is not about race & we must address the real issues!

I ask for Americans to please look at the human policies these woman are addressing. I ask Americans to actually research the US Foreign Policy that causes massive Refugees and Endless War.
I ask Americans to look at who is funding the election campaigns of their representatives. I ask Americans to question why we are continously at war, when it does not benefit the United States! I ask Americans to research the foreign influence that controls US policy!
