The slow (and then quick) death of CollegeHumor, Funny or Die, and your other favorite online comedy sites was not an accident. It was the result of Facebook's deliberate effort to kill the indie video industry, in part by massively falsifying viewer data.
So while today is a bad day for everyone who lost their jobs, and for anyone who wishes that original, independent comedy still had a place online, it's a GREAT day for anyone who needs to hire brilliant creative talent. Just check out this fuckin' murderers row:
@rekhalshankar is the head writer of CH Originals, which means not only does she turn out funny as hell hit videos, she can manage a team, which in this business means she's a fucking unicorn you can't afford NOT to hire
This sketch by @ChestangRaphael was so funny we basically adapted it into an Adam Ruins Everything character, which he proceeded to nail to the wall. Just a stupendous comedian

@Trenzilla_ is a fantastic video editor who just moved to LA and is wonderful to work with - I know this because I have worked with him on some personal projects, on which he was invaluable.
One of the greatest pleasures of the last five years has been watching @KatieMarovitch grow into a bafflingly funny sketch comedian. At 3:00 into this sketch, my jaw dropped, and it stayed that way until the sketch ended. What the fuck.

I'd like to take a quick aside to point out how many of the pieces I'm linking have amassed MILLIONS of hits. These people create certified viral content DAILY. Weird that an internet internet company in need of hits would decline to employ them? Seems like a slam dunk tbh
