You know what? Betelgeuse might not explore this time around, but you can try something else: astronomers have been recording its dimming for centuries, well before we had cameras or even the old plates used to record pictures.
People looked at the sky with their naked eye or with a telescope after the XVI century, and assessed stars' brightnesses like that.

There wasn't the light pollution there is today. They could just do it from any open space with a wide enough horizon.
Astronomers would have a table on which to draw and a very little candle - just enough to see what you're writing, but not bright enough that their eyes would get used to that instead of the darkness around them.

They would look up, and draw what they saw, and took notes.

The night Taehyung turns, a single star burns bloody red... and only a dark slumber greets him.
“You can’t keep him from me!” a furious voice shouts, echoing in the vast warmth blanketing Taehyung’s mind. “You‘ll kill him like this! The law states that he’s mine-!”

Taehyung’s brow furrows, nose scrunching as a bang rocks the cabin, stirring him from his deep sleep.
“Taehyung!”

In the darkness, he hears it - a soothing call sweeter than any melody, a blackness he’s unafraid of. He’s always loved the night, the stars.

It sounds like home.

“No-!”

At the sound of a pained shout, Taehyung awakens with eyes blazing red and a pelt of night.

Connor had wanted to see the stars. He could easily access star charts and high-resolution images from observatories all over the world, but it didn't feel the same as he imagined it would to watch the night sky himself.
Of course, it wasn't possible to see much from Detroit.
"You'll never see much around here," Hank said, when Connor mentioned wanting to stargaze. Light pollution had steadily increased over the previous decades, and even though Connor's eyesight was more sensitive than most humans', he couldn't make out much more than the brightest
stars in the sky, most nights.
"It's all right," Connor started to say, but Hank shut him down before he could finish.
"No it's not," he said. "You want to see stars? I know where we can make it happen, if you're up for a trip."

These deaths are on his hands though. He requests to be known as the Grim Reaper on passing legislation. He certainly lives up to the name.

The NRA is in Republicans’ pocketbooks as well as ears, telling them how to spread fear & lies about guns to the public.
