UPDATE: In October, I identified a network of 14 purportedly independent Facebook pages that only promoted content from The Daily Wire

Facebook said the pages were "real pages run by real people" and didn't violate its rules

We now know that isn't true

2. Over the last several months, Facebook has implemented a new policy that requires certain pages to verify their ownership.

13 of the 14 pages identified by Popular Information are OWNED BY THE DAILY WIRE

3. Recall these pages posted the same Daily Wire content at the same time ("coordinated")

And while they were claiming to be run by individuals or be independent media outlets, they were all owned and operated by the Daily Wire ("inauthentic")

4 And yet, somehow, Facebook maintains that what The Daily Wire is doing does not violate its prohibition about "coordinated inauthentic behavior"

I asked Facebook about that, and its misleading public statements about the matter, but they didn't respond

5. One of the core tenets of corporate PR is to survive the news cycle and count on reporters getting bored of the story.

I stick with things because that's the only way to hold people accountable.

1. Let's talk about Facebook's earnings call yesterday and how it relates to the company's inability or unwillingness to effective combat political misinformation on the platform.

Because it really explains everything.
2. Facebook announced that it made $7.3 BILLION in PROFIT over the last three months.

You could spend just a tiny fraction of that and make a pretty serious dent in the political misinformation problem.

But the company won't do it. Why?
3. Despite the obscene profits, which are up year-over-year, Facebook stock is down significantly today. (Almost 7% at the moment.)

Why?

Investors are concerned that "expenses" are rising too quickly.

That's a critical dynamic.

Dershowitz just revealed the absurdity of the Trump defense.

He argued that Trump believes his election is in the public interest and therefore if he uses his power to help his reelection - by pressuring a foreign government to investigate his opponent - that's not impeachable
"Every public official that I know believes that his election is in the public interest... If a president does something which he believes will help him get elected in the public interest, that cannot be the kind of quid pro quo that results in impeachment."
Nixon used the power of the presidency to cover up the Watergate burglary because if voters found out his aides were involved it would damage his reelection chances. Since Nixon believed his reelection was in the public interest, the cover up was not impeachable.

I don't know who needs to hear this but arguing that you should vote for Candidate X because Candidate X is the only one who can win is circular
It also assumes that ANYONE can accurately predict "who can win." Politics is unpredictable. Who predicted that Obama and Trump would be the last two presidents. The "experts" are consistently wrong but you are supposed to vote based on their predictions.
I accurately predicted that George W. Bush would be the next president in 1997 (there was no Twitter but I have witnesses) but I didn't let it get to my head

In a statement published on its website, @Facebook says:
The @EpochTimes and The BL media companies are unaffiliated. The BL was founded by a former employee, and employs some of our former employees.

However, that some of our former employees work for BL is not evidence of any connection between the two organizations.

One of the first more successful/costly ads, from 2015. Posts promising "updates" (including one about the Charleston shooting) seem to perform better so far. Also notice targeting- Baltimore, Ferguson, and surrounding.

Just like with RT's cat and tsunami videos, this page was looking to draw people in before delivering more divisive content...
