The truth we're all circling around is that generations of rampant greed, undercutting of education, the commodification of news, and the compromising of principles has rendered our society incapable of addressing the multitude of disasters and crises those faults have created.
The very nature of our economy is that the people at the very top push their institutions to the point of breaking in order to make the most before the system inevitably breaks. In this case it's literally everything, and we're watching it break in real time.
And as the multitude of increasing disasters unfurls, each threatening our very safety and democracy, we have a system designed to profit off those disasters, to commodify them as products to sell and profit from.
