One reason I dislike “Anglo” as a term for elites in America, Canada or even England is that they only conceptualized themselves as this primarily in the 1880’s-1920’s as a Germanophilic, quasi-nordicist progressivism which ties the values of liberalization with race/culture.
The current elites, Wessex and Alfred descendants or not, really do not fetishize this point even as far as Thomas Jefferson who mostly did so post hoc to justify the “ancient” roots of English speaking democratic systems. And it was a bad ahistorical take then as well.
Macaulay was short lived as a model, and Wilsonians transcended the racial/cultural aspect for the ideas of universal superiority of liberalism itself. Instead of the human element that secured the Anglo-American Empire, the Imperial justification was ideology.
This isn’t really news to anyone on our side, but it puts the subject peoples of the imperial order, especially including the core population groups who made the Empire(s) possible in the first place. Some have better attitudes to the coming apart and mismanagement.
Others, like the Ontario Anglo Canadians or certain groups of white American or English sub elites who’ve internalized the faith of their state are beyond hope, they’ll never self correct because they have zero introspection or dissatisfaction to the non life they’ve been given.
One thing is certain though, is that those “Anglicizing” idealists born in rejecting the cynicism of the Belle Epoch Anglicizers and Anglo-Caths are mostly long dead. They’ve hollowed themselves out as an elite and refuse to procreate as their stylistic lifestyle fashion.
They are sick Manchus, ruling over states that look nothing like them, that spurn the remaining similar human capital it does have out of moral imperatives. Their ranks were already recruiting outsiders 100 years ago but now 100,000s of Subcons and East Asians are young blood.
They are slowly assuming roles of power, and the “native” elite that considers itself world citizenry doesn’t even have the severe sociopathic professionals that slapped unruly elements down when their states were really threatened in the 1960’s&1970’s
All that remains is for these groups that were the core of the old states to form identities outside of the current state parameters. Some “Anglo” groups are much further along in doing this than others, but everyone’s window for political action is very small currently.
It will still be possible for many groups to wind up “Post Anglo” as we understand that term today.
