Gutted by Jess Phillips pulling out the race. Here was someone firmly on the left, who had been consistently honest about the moral and political failings of Corbynism from the start. And so of course she doesn't get enough support to carry on.
I don't know what it would have done to have a personality like that - someone unwilling to play the game and intent on speaking truthfully - as opposition leader. It would have been a grand experiment in British politics.
Shit, maybe it would have been a disaster. It could well have been. But she was, to my eyes, the most likely candidate to properly turn things around and win in five years.
I hope that whoever wins gives her a prominent front bench position and that we see a successful bid in a few years time.
But worth saying one thing. People, whatever their political views, love to bang on about how politicians are all the same and they're all liars.
Well the biggest liar of all just got handed a massive majority in a general election. And the person most intent on trying to speak truthfully just had to drop out a leadership race for lack of support.
So I dunno. I'm not so fucking convinced people care as much as the lying as they claim to.
