Today the Senate reconvenes the 1st presidential impeachment trial in history without actual deliberations

Instead of senators formally meeting to deliberate together - like other impeachments & every other jury trial - they are nixing that, doing some speeches, and then voting.
This impeachment process began with the defendant complaining it was a sham.

It ends with the prosecutors complaining it is a sham, because the defendant demanded Senate Republicans make it one.

This NYT storyline of “both sides switch sides” on Bolton misses the *whole purpose* of fact witnesses - it’s about what they saw, not whether you “like” or agree with them.

Most top fact witnesses are senior Trump officials, so obv Democrats would “disagree” with many of their views, just as the Dem House sought fact witnesses on obstruction like McGahn & Lewandowski — or how the GOP demanded Hillary Clinton and her aides testify about Benghazi.
So while the story is not “inaccurate” or wrong on the details, (and is by a great reporter), it assumes a premise of “political hypocrisy” that is irrelevant to the task at hand.

Sekulow making one of the more effective arguments now out of all the Trump presentations -- focusing essentially on the *sentencing.* Is this truly enough to remove a President?
Sekulow now arguing the allegations against Trump are "unsourced" -- a claim undercut by Trump denying Congress many sources, and the trial (so far) ducking witnesses.
Wow. Clear sign of concern that Sekulow is now using his *closing argument* to rush out new attacks on John Bolton as a potential witness.
