CHECK YOUR PHONE BILLS!!!
I don’t usually check my phone bill but got a shocked when my bill was more than RM400 last month! Looked into my bill then realised I was being charged ‘usage charges’. Got suspicious and decided to call Maxis to find out what the it was.

First customer service guy wasn’t helpful at all. He insisted that I must have pressed on an ad, filled up some form and then got charged for the ad. (Wth?) So I told him ads doesn’t work that way but he insisted it does even though I told him I’m in the ad line and IT DOES NOT
WORK THAT WAY but nevertheless , he still insisted it does and I must have filled up the form without realising it (REALLY???). Fine, whatever. Didn’t bother to argue with him since he said he’ll give me a partial refund.
This morning I checked my bill and again I was charged for ‘usage charges’! Called Maxis again to clarify (this time the guy was a lot nicer!) and the guy said that they have been having customers calling in to complain about this as well.
It’s basically a scam company trying to scam their customers and it’s not just happening to Maxis customers but to all other telcos as well. I’ve never gotten any one of those SMS before and he doesn’t know how it works.
So what if people don’t check their bill? And he said ‘that’s why we encourage people to check their bills’. (Errr really?) Anyway, long story short, Maxis will be refunding half of my ‘usage charges’ and the scam company will be refunding the other half.
Question is, if you already know the company that is sending out these scam SMSes then how come nothing is being done to address the issue? 🤔 On tip of that, I have to wait up to 1 month to get my refund?
