Gross.
They've found a probably inexhaustible supply of outrage by hitching their sorry wagons to Trump. That -- in radio think -- translates to more time spent listening per quarter-hour, or AQH. That means more exposure to ads. It's the 20th-century version of "engagement."
It's deeply venal and basically ensures that the toxic discourse of the past fifteen years will continues. Radio hosts don't have much imagination on average and do not adapt well to change, since so many of them are simply weaponizing their own personalities for ratings.
Note: I am not including my greatly talented friends from my radio days in this. There are some people in the medium with exceptional talent, like Phil Hendrie, whose genius is legendary. But they generally end up going where there's more freedom or at least more money these days
Source: I worked in AM and FM radio for 25 years and, to my embarrassment, dated more than one colleague. (Hey, you work long hours and don't get out much, that's just what tends to happen.)
Also, dating other radio people means you can say things like, "Let's go get a nice meal, I've got trade" and it's not totally embarrassing lol
Oh, and since radio still is relatively ephemeral, they can say whatever the hell they want. Who's going to fact-check them? They might have someone to answer their phones, maybe a producer who gives them topics to talk about and someone to run the board. And so it goes.
