Um, the people of Puerto Rico are carrying a guillotine to the Governor’s mansion right now.
The guillotine has been been put up outside the Governor’s mansion in San Juan.
So @Residente showed up and gave a speech behind the guillotine.
A few editorial notes:

1. 99% sure it was just symbolic and not usable. Couldn’t see 100% in the rain/dark but 99% sure.

2. There was a lot of anger in the air but also party energy that seemed to be at the summer protests.

3. Pouring rain did nothing to deter the protesters.

Which outlines the impeachment process.

I can’t say enough about how amazing these people are.

@Remove_TrumpNow and @by_the_ppl are the amazing groups leading this, the exact response we need to this president.

Thread.

The thing about about corruption around the world is that it’s entrenched.

It’s built into the way governments work, it’s engrained into laws, and it’s rooted in the way we think.

Corruption that has no place in good governance is tied into every aspect of our system.
The fight to end corruption must always take into consideration how systematic and organized the corruption has become.

Getting rid of one leader is not enough to end corruption. It will take a rewiring of our laws and even our thinking to really make headway.
Replacing leaders, and putting true progressives in power is a fantastic place to start.

But after we get them in power we need to hold them accountable.

We need to be organized and willing to protest, vote out, and pressure even the “good guys” who don’t measure up.

I've seen some confusion about the emergence of 🆘 and #SOSAmerica2019, so I want to clear that up right now.

SOS is a group of ordinary people who have seen that our politicians are unwilling to take drastic action to get Trump out of office.

So we, the people, must lead. /1
The amazing protests in Puerto Rico have inspired us.

The sustained, massive protests in Hong Kong have inspired us.

Russians protesting Putin have inspired us.

Sudan rising up against their military regime has inspired us.

Pakistan, Algeria, France, have inspired us. /2
So now we're planning for sustained, mass protest.

We don't want to do it alone. We are boosting and planning to boost every protest against Trump.

We are reaching out and planning to reach out to the many amazing orgs we know are fighting this fight.

I did something similar to this 5 years ago, in anticipation of EC & @theroots' Wise Up Ghost LP, on tumblr.

(You can still find all those posts if you look, although a lot of the YouTube links etc are now dead ends. It was 40 Days Of EC then, so for 2018 I'm upping it to 45.)
Mostly I will be going chronologically from the early years right up to the present, but it feels right to start out with Costello's 2002 song, "45."
