Last few tweets show the progress we're making in understanding how genome encodes connectivity, how we can map connections and compare between species...
Now we just need to figure out what all those connections are doing! 😀
And actually there's incredible progress being made on that front too in circuits and systems neuroscience. (Almost too much to keep up with!)
There's a concern that we don't have the right theories, but it feels like we're on the cusp of real understanding of the principles of what the brain is doing and how...
That will require more holistic, integrative analyses but those are becoming possible w/ new tech + more computational power...
