@alx @willchamberlain I've been giving this subject way too much thought because who listens to me? But here's the deal.

Social media companies are IN THE BUSINESS of social media. Thoughts, opinions, ideas, sharing news, stories, memes & all of the above. That's their BUSINESS.

@alx @willchamberlain If social discourse is their BUSINESS how are they NOT beholden to the 1st Amendment?

Social media companies are the new Ma Bell. You call someone on your princess phone & you can say whatever you want. (WITH SOME EXCEPTIONS)

The only difference is the technology.

@alx @willchamberlain If social media wants to divide us into groups then FINE. Conservatives, Liberals, POC, Transgender, Over 50 etc. BUT CLEARLY state that it's for those categories. Like a Gentleman's Club or Ladies' Luncheon or Playing Poker. Are we going to play Old Maid in our poker club?

@alx @willchamberlain But a blanket SOCIAL MEDIA platform must allow freedom of speech. Period.

The baker who bakes cakes only has to bake the cake. Any writing on the cake is SPEECH. Does the 1st Amendment force us to say what we don't want to say? Does it, Will?
