Here's something new: Sacred Heart Jesuit Retreat House in Sedalia, Colorado, organized a day-long retreat around "Building a Bridge," about LGBTQ Catholics, and how Jesus reaches out to the marginalized. Thanks so much for inviting me to Skype in to begin your day of prayer.

.@CrisisTextLine provides free support, via text, for people in crisis. Here is a stat from a staffer: "In the past 90 days: 69% of LGBT texters came out for the first time or shared thoughts about their identity to one of our Counselors. 45% of our texters identify as LGBTQ..."
"We get a large volume of LGBTQ texters from the following: Louisiana, CT, NM, DE, and VT. Top issues include: depression, anxiety, self-harm, and suicide ideation. Ages are primarily 18 and under, and 13 and under."
This is another reminder of the need for all of us, including religious organizations, to reach out to LGBTQ youth, and to recognize that in many places LGBTQ issues as life issues.

...Christian's relationship with Jesus Christ is a profound reverence for his teachings, including "Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you" (Mt 5:44). And the last place that one should flaunt one's vanity or ignore Jesus's teachings is in the setting of prayer...
Catholic leaders should boycott this event in the future if it continues in this vein. Because it is no longer the occasion for prayer with the President, and is no longer prayer in any meaningful way, but is an exercise in spite, contempt and vanity.

White gays refuse to believe that Black people don’t want to vote for Buttigieg because he is *checks notes* bad for Black people.

But of course, don’t take advice from a Black gay man who lives at the intersections of racism and homophobia daily.
I’m so exhausted by some white gays & their problematic stances. The same ones who tried to blame Prop 8 on the Black community & attempt to force the idea that Black people are more homophobic than others.
News flash: the majority of anti-sodomy laws and other anti-LGBTQ efforts have been spearheaded by white people — evangelicals — not Black people. But of course it’s easier to spread misinformation about Black people. The truth is too much to bear.

2yrs ago as part of Bradford LitFest, I spoke at a girls school. The first girl waiting to talk to me after was a 15yo Muslim girl who told me she was gay & feared her family would kill her if she came out. Schools need more not less classes on LGBT rights bbc.com/news/uk-englan…
I asked @ImaanLGBTQ how best to help the 15yo girl and they sent me info on a programme for LGBT youth in her area. I am glad to see more Muslim LGBT groups in the UK and in North America.
Young #LGBTQ Muslims must not be abandoned to the homophobia of the parents who have succeeded in canceling the classes nor to the racist and Islamophobic backlash that will invariably jump onto this as another reason to bash on Muslims.
