I'm loath to give this nonsense any more oxygen, but to be fair to those who have seen it and been irritated by it this morning, I feel I should offer some response (thread) 
I was personally asked whether I would be willing to support an independent candidate if one could be found. I robustly (& evidently a bit loudly) said no, & confirmed my strong support for our excellent Green candidate @SandyHRuthven
@sandyhruthven The way Labour cllrs have leapt on distorted eavesdropping & tried to make something out of nothing smacks of desperation. Are they trying to create a shiny bit of gossip to distract attention from their own failure to deliver for Bristol?
@sandyhruthven I guess they don’t want us talking instead about the failures of provision for children with SEND, the cack-handed attempts to keep a lid on their dealings with L&G or the Chocolate Path neglected until it literally crumbled into the river.

@sandyhruthven What Labour cllrs maybe don't understand is that we have open selections for all roles in the Green Party. Including sitting councillors when it comes to reselection. There are no coronations
@sandyhruthven I did put myself forward for the Mayoral candidate selection - although I had some reservations about it distracting from my campaign to be re-elected as a councillor - because I didn't know who else would stand and I wanted to make sure we had a strong candidate
@sandyhruthven After a couple of hustings with Sandy, I could see his passion for making life better in Bristol, and how hard he was willing to work to do it, and I knew he would make an excellent candidate, and Mayor
@sandyhruthven So I withdrew from the race to endorse him. Everything I have seen from Sandy since has confirmed for me that this was a good decision.
