It's a little bit funny watching Senators ask the Chief Justice to ask Trump lawyers what they think the Chief Justice is allowed to do.

Kind of like asking your kid, "what do YOU think your punishment is going to be?"
The reason why @RepAdamSchiff can speak with such authority about the Chief Justice's power is to adjudicate is because the Constitution gives the Senate sole power to try impeachments.

That means, THE SENATE, can vote the Chief Justice, WHATEVER power they want.
@RepAdamSchiff If the Senate says the Chief can handle issues of relevancy, he can. If they tell him to handle issues of privilege, he can. If they tell them to handle such issues, don't like his rulings, and then overrule the Chief's ruling, THEY CAN DO THAT.
