Understand, when we call Republicans #cowards we're not just using an invective designed to shame and embarrass these people.
We're accurately describing their state of mind. They are AFRAID. They are more afraid of @realDonaldTrump than they are of the damage he causes.
@realDonaldTrump The problem is that cowardice, the true, pathetic panic in the face of danger, also engenders sympathy. Republicans like @SenAlexander have shown themselves to be small and weak. Their dripping fear in the face of danger, almost humanizes them.
@realDonaldTrump @SenAlexander So I prefer the word "complicit." For that is what they are. They are not merely afraid of Trump, they are active enablers of his crimes and misconduct.

Cowards flee from the great evil. Republicans... help it along.

Let me be clear, if Roberts so much as BREATHES on Ruth Bader Ginsburg this week, I want him brought up on attempted murder charges.
My buddy @cristianafarias tells me that there are no judicial conferences until February 19th so, like, if Roberts tries to talk to her before then, we'll have established "intent."

Pelosi's BS about Twitter reflects a long-standing establishment beef with marginalized people who develop a significant following on here. It upsets their preferred power dynamics that people who aren't their brand of elite have a profound effect on public discourse.
I'm tired of people like Pelosi acting like Twitter ain't shit while also trying to censor people's behavior here. As tho the platform were at once irrelevant and also super important. She knows what happens here affects the larger scheme of politics. She resents it.
In Pelosi's mind, people like AOC cut in line, in terms of clout and power, by developing a large following on social media. She doesn't want them to leverage what power they have bc them having it at all is unacceptable to her.

Having been reading about conceptualising suicide as a rational and autonomous act, I have been reflecting on my own suicide attempts and my own understanding of rationality, autonomy, and free will. Should my decision to end my own life have been respected?
My two attempts were in some ways very similar, and in some ways disparate. Separated by a year, they were both overdoses, both impulsive, preceded by a couple of weeks of chaotic and isolative behaviour, and involved a great deal of unrelenting distress.
I find that Shneidman’s term ‘psychache’ really hits close to home. I have also seen the term ‘rapid onset despair’ used and felt that this accurately described the state of mind I found myself in.

Something just clicked for me this week: how much the transition from monitoring to observability is about a shift in perspective, from third-person observer to first-person narrator.

And how much this says about why putting software engineers on call is hard.
Monitoring has traditionally been one piece of software keeping an eye on another piece of software, and describing its state. This goes for white box monitoring too, not just black box.
Whereas observability requires a different level of abstraction, one that practically demands it be an instrumentation game. This is a firsthand perspective -- the code explaining itself back to you, your future self, your future team.
